END OF YEAR FINAL ASSESSMENTS SCHEDULE 2016

It's that time of the year and I'm sure that you are ALL ready to start your summer adventures. Everyone else in the valley is pretty much done for the school year and I know that you're ITCHING to join them. In case you have forgotten the final assessment schedule or didn't know, I've got the post for you! 

May 31st- SENIORS ONLY- 6B and 8B

All other students will attend school on as a regularly scheduled day
If you are a SENIOR (this only applies to seniors) and you do not have a 6B or an 8B final assessment and have your own transportation, you may leave for the day. 

On the following dates, if you have your own transportation to and from school, you may report to school at the designated times for your final assessment. For example, if you only have a final assessment in 1A, you may leave during the break. If you only have a final assessment in 3A, you may arrive during the break to take your final.



**IMPORTANT NOTE**
Students are NOT allowed to leave the classroom early unless they turned in a note to attendance at the beginning of the day and have been issued a check out pass. Students will not be sent down to attendance or allowed to call/text home to get permission to leave (per administration).  If you did not bring a note to attendance at the beginning of the day then you must stay until the end of the exam period.

The end of the school year nears and laptops will be collected soon. Check the following schedule for the dates your laptop will be collected and plan accordingly for any assignments that may be due. Be sure that you have your laptop charger and bag as well. You will be charged for any missing components that were issued to you at the start of the school year.

The following NON- WBHS students do NOT have an Out of School Date Form on file with Mrs. Damasco- Farrington and will not be allowed into prom on Saturday, May 14, 2016

SOL TESTING May 10-13, 2016 SCHEDULE

SOL TESTING MAY 10-13 SCHEDULE

1. On the week of May 10- May 13, we will be SOL testing. These SOLs are very important to these students as they are part of the requirements for graduation. 

May 10th: Biology, Chemistry and Algebra 1
May 11th: Earth Science and Algebra II
May 12th: VA/US History and Geometry
May 13th: World History I, World History II and World Geography

2. Our schedule for those days will be as follows: 

Homeroom 8:20- 8:30 am
Go to homeroom for information prior to testing

SOL Testing 8:35 am- 11:35 am

1A/ 2B Block  11:40 am- 12:05 pm
3A/4B Block 12:10 pm- 12:30 pm
5A/6B Block 12:35 pm- 2:15 pm
     1st Lunch  12:30 pm- 1:00 pm
     2nd Lunch 1:10 pm- 1:40 pm
     3rd Lunch 1:45 pm-2:15 pm
7A/8B Block 2:20 pm- 3:25 pm

3. If you do not have an SOL to take AND you have your own transportation, you may report to school by 11:30 am. 

4. When you report to school at 11:30 am, you will report to the cafeteria and check in there. You will remain in the cafeteria until you are dismissed to go to class. Please enter at the ENTRANCE BY THE FRONT OFFICE. YOU WILL HAVE TO BE BUZZED IN.

5. If you do not have your own transportation, you will come to school on the bus as you normally would. You will remain in the cafeteria during SOL testing until everyone has been dismissed to go to class. 

6. Please remember that once you get on the bus you have entered school. You may not ride the bust and then get off and go to Stonebridge, Taco Shell, etc. 

7. Just because you do not have an SOL, you do not have the right not to come to school. Always keep in mind your final assessment exemptions. It only gives you the option to report to school by 11:30 am no later

8. If you are a Burton student or a Governor's School student, we will be calling you down to make sure that you understand your schedule for the week. 

9. If you are a marketing coop student, you need to communicate with your co-op teacher. You are expected to notify work of the adjusted schedule to allow for your attendance at school. Absences due to work will affect students based on the normal attendance policy.

Prom 2016 "Dinner" Menu

PROM... is almost less than a MONTH AWAY! 

Can you believe it? I surely can't! But, if you're wondering dates, times, senior walk, ticket sales and date forms. Check out this post here for all that good stuff. This post is about the food that you'll be able to munch on throughout the dance. Unlike last year's prom, we will not have a sit down dinner buffet but more the way of strolling stations. What does THAT mean? You say? 

Well... the idea is that there will be food stations set up in areas of the ballroom and you (and your date... and your friends) can go to a station and pick up a bite to eat as you take a break from the dance floor (and chat with others as you savor those delicious morsels!) That way you aren't committed to sitting down and eating and you get to socialize (and dance) your way from one station to another. Tables will be available but there won't be enough seats for EVERY single attendee of the dance, so plan accordingly when it comes to those clutches and shoes that you ladies like to leave chilling on tables, etc. Remember: the hotel nor I are responsible for ANY items that are left unattended during the event. Perhaps that dressy pair of heels for pictures and flats for the dance?

Prom 2016 FYI and other things...

"A Moroccan Affair"
Prom 2016 is JUST around the corner! Can you believe it? Just a few reminders and notes for all who are planning to attend this year’s event. This year’s WBHS Prom will be held on Saturday, May 14th at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference CenterStudents will be able to begin checking in at 7:30 pm with the catered food service beginning at 8:00 pm. Tables will be available but will not be reserved for couples or groups, so it is a first come, first serve on tables.


Here is a tentative schedule for the evening: 
7:30 pm Check in begins
8:00 pm Food Service begins
9:00 pm Senior Walk begins
9:30 pm (more or less) Announcement of Prom Court
10:00- midnight DANCE the night away!

Prom ticket sales dates:
Seniors ONLY Special: April 27th- 29th @ $45 per person
Juniors & Seniors: May 2nd- 6th @ $50 per person
Last minute sales: May 9th- 11th @ $55 per person

**Please note that tickets will not be sold after May 11th for catering purposes, so plan accordingly.**

Don't forget that you are able to submit song requests right now! Click on the link for instructions on how to do it! 

The ticket price includes the catered food at the Sheraton Hotel and parking is FREE! All students who will be bringing guests that do not currently attend WBHS will need to fill out an Out of School Date Form that can be found in the main office or outside of room 229 and returned to Mrs. Damasco-Farrington by May 11th in room 229 or the main office. Any student who wishes to bring a guest 21 years of age or older, MUST have prior approval from an administrator BEFORE the event.
Students must have all obligations (class dues, book fees, etc.) to the school satisfied as well as any detentions or Saturday school served before the day of the event. The following are dates for upcoming Saturday School leading to the date of prom: April 23rd, May 7th and May 14th.

Prom 2016 DJ Song Requests!!

We are almost 2 months away from Prom 2016! This year, prom will once again be at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center near the airport and Valley View Mall. In preparation for the big night, this year, our event DJ has a system set up for everyone to request songs for the event. 

RSP Entertainment has a very interactive way for you to request music they would like to hear at their upcoming event. It's so easy, anyone can do it!

Here’s how it works.
1. Go to www.RSPentertainment.com from a desktop or laptop computer
2. Click on the "Music" Link
3. Click on the link under "GUEST REQUESTS"
4. Enter the following information:
Group: WBHS
Password: Prom


It's best to access this through a desktop/laptop computer, however it can be accessed on a mobile device, but it's not as easy to navigate.  Once you are on this page, you can search through their extensive music collection and add the songs you would like to hear. The list then compiles and shows how often each song is requested as more and more people start making requests. The final list is then sent to RSP ENTERTAINMENT 1 day before the event in the order of most to least requested to make sure they have all of the music and can pre-make a music list with all of the popular hits! I recommend you try it also just to see how it works, and get a few of your own requests in there :-). They will still take requests on the day of the event so don't worry if you didn't get your latest favorite song on the request list before the event. Do let me know if you have any issues with the page and I'll relay the information on to RSP Entertainment.
